Tim Mitchell

About Tim
Tim Mitchell is the Solicitor Director of Bay Legal. He was admitted in 1995 and enjoys practising law in a boutique commercial and general practice.
Tim worked in first tier law firms in the 1990s primarily in commercial transactions and infrastructure projects. Since establishing Bay Legal in 2005 he has continued to develop his practice in assisting personal clients and small to medium businesses in general commercial transactions, civil litigation, property, leasing, intellectual property and all forms of Court and administrative appeal representation. He also has considerable experience in criminal defence and employment matters and has been involved with the determination of numerous contested estate matters including Family Provision and disputed Wills matters in the Supreme Court of NSW.
Tim is a currently practising Notary Public and able to assist clients with international transactions in that capacity.
Prior to practising law, Tim gained a breadth of experience working in various political advisory roles and industrial relations. He was previously chair of the Australia Asia Young Leaders Program and the M Club, Maroubra Bay. He is currently chair of Hartford College, an independent boys school in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
For extracurricular activities, Tim enjoys being with his family, camping, reading and listening to history and philosophy.

About Penny
Before joining Bay Legal as a Paralegal and now as a Solicitor, Penny was employed by a major Australian bank for 10 years. Penny’s banking career included various roles in lending, funds management and government and regulatory affairs. Penny holds a Master of Laws and Bachelor of Economics and is currently studying a Master of Bioethics.

About Thao
Thao is passionate about family law and has experience in a variety of areas of law including personal injury, and wills and estates.
Thao believes in an empathetic, efficient, and practical approach to resolving legal issues.
Thao graduated with Honours in Law in 2011 and was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia in 2012. She is the current Treasurer of the Eastern Suburbs Law Society.
Outside of the office, Thao enjoys eating, cheerleading, and learning about Ancient Egypt and astrophysics.
Nathan James

About Nathan
Nathan was admitted as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in February 2019.
Before joining Bay Legal, Nathan worked in managerial roles for over 15 years in some of Sydney’s leading arts institutions and also ran a boutique commercial photography company.
Nathan enjoys the challenges associated with a generalist law firm such as Bay Legal including a diverse clientele and the wide range of legal enquiries.
Outside of work, Nathan loves heading off-road to explore and photograph the many wonders of the NSW countryside.

About June
June has vast legal experience having spent her career working for solicitors in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia. She has run significant branch offices for firms and worked as the Personal Assistant to principals. June has extensive knowledge of the legal process and the critical role of dealing with clients in a personal capacity. Not the least, she brings an appetite for numeric skills to Bay Legal and helps with the accounts side of the business.
Away from work June enjoys walking, aqua aerobics, reading and sport. She supports one of the top teams in England and on Monday mornings she enjoys regaling the office with her team’s performance on the weekend.
June supports the Children’s Cancer Charity Committee and assists with charity work whenever she can.
